Birth of Sam IV : Samuel Graham, IV was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming at 1256 MST on August 14th. He was 7 lbs, 13 ozs and 19 3/4 inches long. He is a fine looking boy. Samuel is my 6th grandchild. He is Sam Sr and Pauline's Graham's 6th Great-Grandchild! Anyway, he's a good kid. Enjoy the pictures.

Old Pictures from 1978 & 1979 : These were some good pictures of Sami and Tami in 1978 and 1979. Pictures are taken at VAN DAMNE STATE PARK IN 1978 AND 1979 as well as Seattle and William Land Park in Sacramento, California. I figured they needed to be scanned because even in a scrapbook that has been closed for years, they're still fading badly. Must mean I am getting old.

Knoxville, Tennessee : Sam went to a two week long class at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee on the June 1, 2008. It was a great class dealing with process improvement or something the Air Force is calling Air Force Smart Operations for the 21st Century. We had never any time in Knoxville, but found it to be a very nice city. The downtown area was really neat. They've done a really good urban renewal job here.

Summer Vacation 2008 : We rarely get away for a vacation, but we were able to get away to Kansas and Missouri this year. We went to see the Cardinals play the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. We also went to the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Complex...followed by a trip to the Truman Museum in Independence, Missouri. Good time.

Father's Day 2008 : I had a wonderful Father's Day this year. Tami sent me a great surprise Cardinals autographed baseball. Julia called me from Texas. Sami called from the port of Tampa and said she'd been out on the boat and something would be coming in the mail. Allen and Laura brought me to Woodland Park, Colorado and we ate in a German restaurant we'd been talking about forever. Then we went to a little place that serves Blue Bell ice cream from Texas. It was a great day.

Mom & Dad Visit April 2008 : My Mom and Dad came out to Aurora to visit us on Friday night and stayed until Tuesday morning. We went to a baseball game with Allen and Laura --- and ate at Pappadeaux courtesy of my youngest daughter, Julia. Great present Julia! Anyway, we had a good visit and here are the pictures.

Opening Day 2008 : We got to take our annual trip to the St Louis Cardinals opening day. We stayed in the Roberts Mayfair Hotel on Saturday night. We are staying in the Hilton at the Ballpark on Sunday and Monday. You can see the ballgame out the big window in the room. It is pretty neat! Anyway, the weather was cold and dreary. First time we haven't seen flowers and leaves when we were here in April.

Easter Sunday, 2008 : Allen and Laura came up to visit us on Easter Sunday. We had a great dinner of spiral glazed ham, potato salad, baked beans, gren beans and bacon, asparagus, deviled eggs and homemade wheat dinner rolls. It was a good dinner and we had enough to feed the neighborhood. However, it was just us, and we made due. For desert we had one of Elizabeth's delicious cheese braids. It was a nice day. We would have liked to have all the kids, grandkids and relatives here with us.

Lake Murray & Ardmore Dec 2007 : We were thrilled to find that the Lake Murray State Resort lodge had not been torn down and we were able to spend a night in the Flower Garden and go see the Festival of Lights. Lots of things to love about this old place. Anyway, it was good to be able to stay here another time.

California December 2007 : I went to Elverta, California to visit Mom and Dad in December. I try to go every year, but was unable to pull it together last year because of a business trip to San Antonio. We had a good time. I was able to see my brother Tim, Tony Mazy, Steve Sanderson and found Jimmy Stephens after a three year absense. It was a great trip.

South Dakota ~ Nov 2007 : We went to South Dakota during the Veteran's Day holiday in November 2007. We had a great time. We visited the Badlands, Wall Drug, and Devils Town, Wyoming. We also went through the big town of Sturgis, and spent the night at Cactus Jack's Gambling Resort in Deadwood. We even got to see some snow while we were up there. Finally, not to forget, we visited Fort Laramie, Wyoming. Just a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the pictures.

Mount Rushmore : Elizabeth and I went to South Dakota over the Veteran's Day holiday. We drove to Rapid City, then to Wall Drug, and the Badlands. Figuring we hadn't driven enough, we took off for Devil's Tower, Wyoming. We ended up spending the night in Deadwood, SD. The next day we awoke to snow and went to visit Mount Rushmore --- it was gorgeous. Lots of great scenery. Thanks to Elizabeth for suggesting the trip. It was well worth it!

Truman Presidential Library and Museum : We were driving through Independence, Missouri on the way home from Alabama, and saw the Truman complex. We stopped and walked down Main Street and went over to the Truman Presidential Library. It was absolutely great. Elizabeth got her National Park Passport stamped, almost got locked in at closing time and got to see lots of neat stuff. It was pretty interesting being right there in the midst of all that history. For most of you, you won't even remember old Harry, but he was probably the most down to earth President we've had in many years and certainly had to make some of the most important decisions in history. Too bad no one like him is running for President in 2008.

Mom & Dad, Elizabeth & Sam in the Rockies : Sam's Mom and Dad came to Colorado in May and visited for two or three days. Sam drove us all over the place and we got to see lots of....well....mountains? Anyway, here are some pictures from that trip. It was a nice time of the year to be driving in Colorado. Snow still on the ground, and everything was pretty and green. The aspen trees were just getting their new leaves. It was sad to see all the dead pine trees...killed because of the pine bark beetle.

Biloxi, Mississippi : Had waited for about two years to see Biloxi, Mississippi after the hurricane. What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than jumping in the car with my daughter Sami and her family and going to check out Mobile and Biloxi. I had bugged people for two years to send me some pictures...well, finally I got to go see Biloxi and two-years later, it wasn't as bad as I had thought. It was horrible, but lots of the places that I had been when I lived there was still there. I was happy.

Tom Alexander's Going Away Party : Tom Alexabder worked in the Buckley Air Force Base manpower office. When he left on March 2, we wanted to give him a going away party. So we reserved the local Greek restaurant and had a nice luncheon. Tom, his wife Elizabeth and his beautiful baby daughter attended as did some of his friends from Buckley. Anyway, my friend from Rio Linda now works at the Air Force Manpower Agency and is eagerly looking forward to the day he doesn't have to drive to Denver every day from Colorado Springs. California - August 2008 : We were fortunate to be able to go to California in August 2008. I like to go to the State Fair and it opened this year on the 15th of August. Interesting enough, there were some difficulties the first night - and our visit followed the next morning. :) We were spared any hassle. As always, Tim and his family came up to see us and go to the fair. We were also able to go to Turlock to see Penny and Art and their kids -- along with their kids. It was a great trip. We also visited quite a few beautiful and favorite places...Lake Tahoe, etc. We had a great time!

Texas Feed Store : We went for a little trip to see Allison, Tami and Julia and ended up in Wichita Falls, Texas. It was a very good trip as we were able to see a lot of our good friends and reconnect with where we had spent the last twenty years. We miss Wichita Falls --- and realize that we'll probably end up there some day. It was good to be in a little town again. Great to see Bob Fenn, Jim McReynolds, Susan Bailey, Teresa and Barbara and Jordan Gary, Lonnie Tucker and many more. We also got to see a feed store in Dean, Texas. Almost bought it until the stock market dropped 777 points. :)

Route 66 - Dad : Sam Sr and I finally got to do Route 66 -- only took ten years of planning. Thanks to Elizabeth for encouraging, my Mom for letting Sam Sr leave her at home for two weeks, and Tom Smith for not hassling me at work about going --- even encouraging me to hit the road. Thanksgiving 2008 : Thanksgiving 2008 -- our kids are all grown and on their own, we're staying in a cabin outside of Colorado Springs on the side of Pike's Peak. We're going down to eat with Allen and Laura for the last Thanksgiving in their home...they'll be moving to Cheyenne, WY this year. We miss our kids...but hope to see them soon.

Trip to Cheyenne, Wyoming : Allen and Laura will be moving up to Cheyenne, Wyoming in less than a month. Elizabeth and I wanted to go up and check the town out and maybe get a newspaper or two with some advertisements in it for homes/apartments. We got what we came for, but came away with an appreciation for what a historic and beautiful place F.E. Warren AFB is. So here are the pictures from our trip up there. One last thing, Laura in the green dress was actually taken a week later as she was getting ready to go to a baby shower. My mother made the blanket she has on her arm.

June 2009 Weather Pictures : The weather has been really weird in Aurora, Colorado this year. Tornado this month, and now something like 21 straight days of rain in the afternoon. Some severe winds and in these pictures, some of the darkest, windiest storms we've seen. Check out the videos of the spinning clouds. :)

4th of July 2009 ~ Omaha, NE : Elizabeth and I wanted something new to do over the 4th of July --- the Cardinals weren't in St Louis this year. So we decided to do something we hadn't done before. Birth of Sam IV : Samuel Graham, IV was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming at 1256 MST on August 14th. He was 7 lbs, 13 ozs and 19 3/4 inches long. He is a fine looking boy. Samuel is my 6th grandchild. He is Sam Sr and Pauline's Graham's 6th Great-Grandchild! Anyway, he's a good kid. Enjoy the pictures.

Old Pictures from 1978 & 1979 : These were some good pictures of Sami and Tami in 1978 and 1979. Pictures are taken at VAN DAMNE STATE PARK IN 1978 AND 1979 as well as Seattle and William Land Park in Sacramento, California. I figured they needed to be scanned because even in a scrapbook that has been closed for years, they're still fading badly. Must mean I am getting old.

The Albuquerque Adventure : After about three and a half years in Aurora, Colorado working for the Department of the Air Force, we decided to change pace and I accepted a job with the US Forest Service in Albuquerque, New Mexico. So far, so good. It's been an eye-opening experience. I guess that means that I never realized how pretentious Air Force and DoD people are. This is refreshing.

October Trip To Wyoming : I flew up to Aurora for the Columbus Day weekend. My folks met us up there and on Saturday, the coldest October 10th in history, we drove to Cheyenne, Wyoming to see Allen, Laura and Sam IV. We went to Sears and had some pictures taken. It was a good and interesting day.
